Positivity, encouragement, care-free spirit, sisterhood, true happiness – that is what comes to mind when thinking about my days at summer camp. If you know me well, you know how my eight summers at Tripp Lake Camp (TLC) helped me become the person I am today.
For eight weeks every summer I was surrounded by cheers & songs and spent endless hours laughing with the girls that I now consider my sisters. Camp let me be who I was – no makeup, no heels, no boys, no pretending. I can’t think of another time in my life where this has truly been the case. In my day to day life I always try to be my authentic self, but who can blame me that every now and again I’m swayed by commercials, advertising, pushy friends or just plain guilt? Aren’t we all?
I was recently sent the below email that was written by current campers about the four color war teams at TLC this summer. It made me smile thinking about how happy & innocent these girls are but more importantly, it made me want to revert back to camper Tracey whenever I feel that I’m slipping away from my true self.
*Subs = 10 year olds
*Big Teams = color war teams and TLC has four of them where team games are played all summer long

All in all, today was one of adventure and the normal highs Tripp Lake Camp has to offer. Before we wrap up today’s blog entry, I wanted to share with you another article written in this week’s published camper-written TLC Times. A handful of Subs looked into their crystal ball and created Big Team Horoscopes. This is dedicated to all the TLC alumni out there in the “real world” and still identify with a Big Team. Enjoy!
Tigers: We’re strong and fierce. Give fellow campers advice and be helpful, and you are sure to be in for a fantastic summer. We rule the jungle, so let’s show everyone what we’re made of!
Climbers: You have a positive attitude and a great sense of humor. Use your personality for the good of others, and you will get good fortune in return.
Giants: You have an outgoing and optimistic attitude that brings a smile to everyone’s face. If you smile, everyone else will smile too!
Cubs: You are cute and cuddly. You also have a fierce attitude! Help you’re campers along their way through camp, and you are sure to be a shining star at TLC this summer.
